Privacy Policy

Seamlift (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a video collaboration platform built for YouTube creators. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Seamlift, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using Seamlift, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you disagree with any part, please discontinue use of the service.

We collect information in two ways: what you give us directly, and what we collect automatically.

Information you provide

• Account information — When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google’s OAuth service (powered by Firebase Authentication).
• Video content — Files you upload to Seamlift for review, including video files and any metadata associated with them.
• Comments & annotations — Frame-accurate comments and feedback you leave on video projects.
• Project data — Project names, version names, and other content you create within the platform.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data — Pages visited, features used, and actions taken within the app. Our session recordings capture clicks, scrolling and layout with all page text and typing hidden, so they never show your file names, notes or emails.
• Device & browser info — Browser type, operating system, IP address, and approximate location (country/region).
• Log data — Server logs including timestamps, request paths, and error information.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Seamlift service
• Authenticate your identity and manage your account
• Store and deliver your video content via our infrastructure
• Enable collaboration features like comments and approvals
• Diagnose technical issues and improve performance
• Send transactional communications (e.g. upload confirmation, processing status)
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your video content to train machine learning models.

Seamlift uses these providers to run the service. Each one only gets the data it needs for its job:

• Cloudflare R2 — Stores your uploaded files and the streaming versions we make of them, encrypted at rest.
• Cloudflare Workers — When you import from Frame.io, copies the files from Frame.io straight into our storage. Files pass through while they copy and aren’t kept there.
• Railway — Runs our API and the PostgreSQL database that holds your account, projects, file details and notes.
• Vercel — Hosts the Seamlift website and app, and counts page visits without cookies.
• Firebase (Google) — Handles sign-in. Google’s privacy policy applies to data processed by Firebase.
• Modal — Converts your videos for streaming and makes preview images. Files are read while a job runs and not kept by Modal afterwards.
• Resend — Sends our emails, such as invites, note alerts and receipts.
• PostHog and Microsoft Clarity — Product analytics: which features are used, where people get stuck, and session recordings with all text hidden.
• Razorpay and Dodo Payments — Take payments for paid plans. Your card or UPI details go straight to them; they never reach our servers.
• Google (YouTube, Drive), Instagram and Adobe (Frame.io) — Only when you connect an account, to publish or import the files you choose.

Data may be processed in countries outside your own. We ensure all sub-processors meet appropriate data protection standards.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Specifically:

• Account data — Retained while your account exists, and deleted as soon as you delete your account.
• Files — Retained until you delete them. Deleted files and projects wait in your recycle bin for 30 days so you can restore them, then they are permanently removed. Deleting your account removes them straight away.
• Payment records — Razorpay and Dodo Payments keep records of your payments as tax law requires, even after you delete your account.
• Logs — Server and access logs are retained for up to 90 days for debugging and security purposes.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

• With collaborators you invite — If you share a project with others, they will see the content and comments within that project.
• With service providers — The providers listed under “Data Storage & Infrastructure” process data on our behalf, only to run Seamlift.
• With the ad platform you came from — If you create an account after clicking one of our ads on Google or Meta (Facebook, Instagram), we tell that platform the signup happened so it can measure the ad. Google receives the ad’s click ID and the signup time. Meta receives the click ID, the signup time, a one-way hash of your email address and account ID, and your IP address and browser type. Nothing is sent if you didn’t arrive from an ad, and we never send the content of your projects.
• Legal requirements — If required by law, court order, or to protect the safety and rights of Seamlift or its users.
• Business transfers — In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before that occurs.

You have control over your data:

• Access — You can view all projects, videos, and comments you’ve created from within the app.
• Deletion — You can delete individual files and projects at any time; they are permanently removed after 30 days in the recycle bin, or right away if you empty it. You can delete your whole account from Settings → Profile: that cancels any paid plan and removes your workspaces, files, notes and sign-in immediately.
• Correction — If your account information is inaccurate, you can update it through your Google account settings.
• Export — You can download your video files directly from the platform at any time.
• Opt-out of communications — You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in any email we send.

Seamlift uses minimal cookies and browser storage. We use:

• Authentication session cookies — Managed by Firebase to keep you signed in securely.
• UI preference storage — Small pieces of data (like sidebar state) stored locally in your browser to remember your preferences. These never leave your device.
• Analytics cookies — PostHog and Microsoft Clarity use cookies to tell one visit from the next, so we can see how Seamlift is used.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. If you arrive by clicking one of our ads, we keep that ad’s click ID in your browser for up to 90 days so we can tell the ad platform when you sign up (see “Sharing Your Information”).

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Your files are encrypted at rest in Cloudflare R2
• Access tokens for the YouTube, Instagram, Google Drive and Frame.io accounts you connect are encrypted (AES-256) in our database
• Sign-in through Firebase Authentication; we never see your Google password
• Every request is checked against your role in the workspace and project, so only people you invite can open your projects
• We do not use your files or notes to train AI models

Files are served from addresses that contain long random IDs, so they can’t be guessed or listed. Anyone who already has one of those addresses can still open that file, even after you turn the review link off. We are moving to file addresses that expire.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to aritrasarkar2002@gmail.com.

Seamlift is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice within the app. Your continued use of Seamlift after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
