Overview
Seamlift ("we", "our", or "us") is a video collaboration platform built for YouTube creators. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Seamlift, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using Seamlift, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you disagree with any part, please discontinue use of the service.
Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways: what you give us directly, and what we collect automatically.
Information you provide
- Account information — When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google's OAuth service (powered by Firebase Authentication).
- Video content — Files you upload to Seamlift for review, including video files and any metadata associated with them.
- Comments & annotations — Frame-accurate comments and feedback you leave on video projects.
- Project data — Project names, version names, and other content you create within the platform.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — Pages visited, features used, and actions taken within the app.
- Device & browser info — Browser type, operating system, IP address, and approximate location (country/region).
- Log data — Server logs including timestamps, request paths, and error information.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Seamlift service
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Store and deliver your video content via our infrastructure
- Enable collaboration features like comments and approvals
- Diagnose technical issues and improve performance
- Send transactional communications (e.g. upload confirmation, processing status)
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your video content to train machine learning models.
Data Storage & Infrastructure
Seamlift uses third-party infrastructure to store and process your data. Key providers include:
- Cloudflare R2 — Video files and processed HLS segments are stored in Cloudflare's object storage. Cloudflare operates globally under strict data handling standards.
- Firebase (Google) — User authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication. Google's privacy policy applies to data processed by Firebase.
- PostgreSQL database — Project metadata, version information, and comments are stored in a managed PostgreSQL instance.
- Modal — Video transcoding jobs are processed on Modal's serverless infrastructure. Raw video files are accessed temporarily during processing and not retained by Modal.
Data may be processed in countries outside your own. We ensure all sub-processors meet appropriate data protection standards.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Specifically:
- Account data — Retained while your account exists. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion upon request.
- Video files — Retained until you delete the project or version, or until you close your account.
- Logs — Server and access logs are retained for up to 90 days for debugging and security purposes.
Your Rights & Choices
You have control over your data:
- Access — You can view all projects, videos, and comments you've created from within the app.
- Deletion — You can delete individual projects, versions, or your entire account at any time. Deleted content is removed from our active systems within 30 days.
- Correction — If your account information is inaccurate, you can update it through your Google account settings.
- Export — You can download your video files directly from the platform at any time.
- Opt-out of communications — You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in any email we send.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at aritrasarkar2002@gmail.com.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Signed, time-limited URLs for video access from Cloudflare R2
- Firebase Authentication for identity management
- Role-based access controls within the application
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to aritrasarkar2002@gmail.com.
Children's Privacy
Seamlift is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice within the app. Your continued use of Seamlift after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
